Graduation Video
Do you know how to make videos or video slide shows? You can volunteer to make a video of the graduation and party for the family as your gift. Or you can make a video slide show of the graduate’s growing up to show at the graduation party. Either gift can be posted on-line for friends and relatives out of town to see.
Once a Month Lunch
Is the graduate going to be around for the summer? Or staying in town to go to college or work? Graduates need time to process all the new things that they will be experiencing. One great gift would be your time. Many graduates need adult help but don’t necessarily want to talk to their parents. Offer to take the graduate out for breakfast, lunch, coffee or ice cream once a month over the summer, so you can talk to them about their plans. Or if the graduate is staying in town you might offer to do it for the next year.
Family Sayings Gift
One of the best gifts is helping the graduate with words of advice, and family sayings. One creative way to do this is to take a plain canvas, put a picture of the graduate in the middle (or a picture of the family) and write family quotes (what grandpa always says, moms best advice etc.), Bible verses, favorite sayings, or family jokes. Use a sharpie pen, or have the quotes printed out on a computer and use Mod Podge to attach them. Another way to do this gift is to print it out and frame it, or to print out the quotes and put them with a picture of the person who said them in a photo album.

Use photos of the graduate through their school years and make a quick photo book of them using Shutterfly, Winkflash or Smilebook of photos from kindergarten to graduation. This can be a great way for the graduate to share their life with their new college roommate.
Easy Recipes Book
Buy a recipe book and fill in with some easy recipes for the graduate to use in their new life of work or college. You might also want to invite family and friends to contribute their favorite recipes too. You can also make this sort of book using Shutterfly (which has a recipe template for a photo book).
Autographed Picture Matte
On unique gift for the graduate is an Autograph Matte that they can have guests at the graduation party sign. An Autograph matte is larger than a regular matte for a picture. You can get them at craft stores or online at Amazon.
Most Autograph Mattes are white and use a black pen, but you might want to get a black one with a white pen for the “chalkboard” look that is popular. You can put a picture of the graduate in the matte and buy a nice frame for it to be put in after everyone signs.

Photo Shoot Gift
Do you like to take photos? Graduation is a special time with lots of memories. Offer to do a photo shoot of the graduate, or maybe the graduate and some special friends. You can then take the photo shoot and make it into a photo book or slide show, or just give the graduate the photos on a flash drive.
Memory Box Gift
Are you a woodworker? You can make a simple memory box for the graduate to store their special high school memories in. See the video below for instructions on making a simple box.
Not a woodworker? You can buy or decorate a bought box for the graduate instead. This can be a very inexpensive but personal gift if you get a box at a craft store, or even “up-cycle” a box you have around the house. You can personalize this gift by decoupaging on pictures of the graduate in high school, their school logo (get off the internet) and pictures of things the graduate has done or likes.
